Green Peel

The GREEN PEEL peeling facial is an organic, herbal blend which gently but effectively resurfaces the skin. This medically-developed method has been successfully proven worldwide with its exclusive and pure natural plant ingredients. This treatment is effective as it diminishes/eliminates skin problems and concerns such as acne, sun damage/pigmentation, lines/wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, blackheads/milia/impure skin, and prematurely aged skin.  This unique peeling method can be prepared based on each individual’s skin type, skin condition and age.  During the peeling process a blend of dried and crushed herbs are mixed into a paste and massaged into the skin. The individual compounds are activated and work together to achieve desired results.  After the peeling treatment the skin will appear flushed and may feel warm. Over the next 2 -3 days the herbs are releasing vitamins, minerals, enzymes and trace elements into the skin.  On day 3-4 the skin will start to peel.  On day 5-7 you will receive a follow up facial which will remove any remaining dead skin and leave the skin visibly improved, clearer and younger.  Home care products, which are included in the treatment price, will cover any redness and most of the peeling effect as well.

Microdermabrasion

The Derma Pod Silhouet Tone Microdermabrasion machine, is bar none top of the line – with competitors falling very short.  It provides deep exfoliation, skin regeneration and oxygenation – without downtime.  Its patented turbo flow projection system and cyclonic action of the released crystals, allows a controlled stream of natural mineral crystals to gradually and evenly erase flaws and blemishes. Thus revealing newer, younger, healthier glowing skin. The number of treatments required to achieve desired results, may vary with each individual depending on age, lifestyle and skin condition. This treatment progressively abrades epidermal cell to treat a vast range of skin problems/impurities such as: sun-damaged skin, enlarged pores, uneven pigmentation, blackheads, Fine lines and wrinkles, superficial scars and stretch marks. 

Laser Hair Removal

With the Apogee Elite laser (Gold Standard Medical Grade Laser), we are able to treat all skin types including tanned skins without damaging the skin.  The Apogee Elite has two laser machines in the one body.  We are able to use the Alexandrite 755nm for lighter skins and permanently destroy even light brown hair (where other machines cannot).  We often have clients come in to treat hair where another technician could not.  

The Nd:YAG 1064nm, is able to treat darker skin types including tanned skins.  However, no machine can treat hair that is lighter in colour then the skin.  If you are a tanned individual and have medium to light brown hair, you will not fare well with the 1064nm.  You would need to lighten your skin to very close to its natural colouring.  Then you would have great results. 

You must shave the area being treated, one day prior to treatment.  This way the laser energy is not being wasted on destroying the hair, instead it is focusing on the root and papilla.  The papilla is what produces a root.  That is what we want to destroy.  When the hair is in the growth cycle (anagen stage), and has a brown/black bulbous root, the laser is attracted and heats up that root.  In doing so, the heat cauterizes the papilla, leaving it unable to receive nutrients from the blood stream and therefore unable to produce a new root/hair. 

Treatments should follow a fairly strict schedule.  The goal is to perform all your treatments at a time when the hair is most likely to be in the growth stage.  This will deliver the best result. Generally facial treatments are 4-6 weeks apart and body treatments are 6-10 weeks apart.

Electrolysis

This is performed 1 hair at a time with a fine wire filament (called a needle).  The needle is actually the same width as the hair, allowing it to slide into the follicle alongside the hair.  A current is then delivered to the root area which will cauterize the contact with the papilla (which nourishes and produces the root), causing it enough damage so it can no longer produce another hair. 

This is an ideal treatment for those who have blonde, grey, white or red hair that a laser cannot treat; those who have very few scattered hair; and eyebrows - which cannot be treated with laser (too close to the eye area). 

A new needle and needle cap is used each time, and safely disposed of after each visit.

Laser Facials - Non-invasive Anti-Aging Facial

This is a very comfortable treatment.  This treatment uses bulk heating to slowly heat the epidermis, causing the skin to believe there is trauma.  This in turn forces the skin to produce more collagen to repair the area.  The skin will continue to repair the area for quite some time post treatment.  The area will become smoother in texture; clearer, softer, easing of fine lines and wrinkles, and most will see a radiant glow. 

There is no downtime whatsoever with the Laser Facial.  You may even book this treatment on a lunch hour.  You may find you are a little pink post treatment; however, this tends to fade within the hour. 

It is recommended you purchase a package of 6 facials - where you will receive the 7th complimentary.  The first 6 facials are generally booked at 2 week intervals, then the 7th and on ward should be booked at 3-4 week intervals.  Most stick with a 4-6 wk maintenance plan.

Pigmentation/Sun Damage

The goal of this treatment is to literally cause the darker pigmented areas ie. Sun damage, age spots, etc, to become darker and irritated (sometimes blistered), in turn allowing that unwanted pigment to shed and leave behind a nicer lighter skin in its place.  Usually within 2 - 4 weeks.

There are many types of pigmentation - Epidermal (superficial), Dermal (Deep)and Mixed Dermal/Epidermal.

Epidermal pigmentation

is usually made up of solar lentigenes and freckles.  These are generally on the surface of the skin, and therefore easier to remove.

Dermal Pigmentation

is located in the Dermis - much deeper.  Melasma is a good example of Dermal Pigmentation.  The 1064nm Nd:YAG laser is best suited, as it is penetrated at the deepest level.  

Mixed Epidermal/Dermal Pigmentation

is just that, a mix of both types of pigmentation.   

Reasons for Pigmentation:

• Overexposure to the sun.  UVA/UVB rays cause trauma to the skin, much of the time resulting in unwanted brown spots
• Hormonal - i.e. Melasma - caused by estrogen from pregnancy or the pill
• Skin Trauma - i.e. Acne

Broken Capillaries Treatment

This service targets those annoying little red/purple lines on our nose and cheek area.  These tiny vessels are very simple to treat with the Nd:YAG laser.  Most clients walk out with some redness, and most importantly, without those red/purple capillaries!  Similar to the Spider Vein treatment, the vessels absorb the laser energy and coagulate, usually scattering and therefore disappearing immediately. 

Any one area generally needs 1 -2 treatments.  Follow up is scheduled for 6 weeks post treatment.

Spider Vein Treatment

The Nd:YAG laser is best for this treatment.  The award winning Apogee Elite truly does a fantastic job on both leg veins and broken capillaries.  The laser is absorbed by the hemoglobin, resulting in, sometimes instant disappearance of unwanted veins/vessels.  Most treatments on leg veins result in temporary welting (resolve in less than 2 hours), redness of the area, and the vessel usually looks darker than it was.  The reason for that is simply that the vessel is coagulated and therefore the blood has been dried up and looks darker in appearance than would a live vessel with blood flow.  This darker coagulated vessel, will become debris and eventually (usually within 1-2 weeks) disappear.

Any vessel that is either purple or red are great candidates for this laser vein treatment. 

Most clients need anywhere from 1 - 3 visits on one area.  A follow up visit is always booked for 6 weeks post treatment.

Compression stockings or tensor bandages must be used for 1-2 weeks post treatment.  This will help keep those vessels collapsed.
